Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Academic Success, the Social Worker provides case management service to MCC students. The Social Worker will intrusively assist students with wrap-around services to maintain and foster student retention and completion when facing difficult personal challenges during a given semester. The Social Worker will keep abreast of new and emerging research that supports student success through social services programming; maintain and award student emergency funding; and consult with college personnel on behalf of student needs and experiences.
Minimum Requirements
  1. A Master's degree in Social Work or related field is required; Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Michigan, or fully licensed in another state and eligible for licensure in Michigan is required. Or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  2. At least two years of successful experience in providing social work services, including but not limited to casework, case management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention; successful experience delivering human services as a member of a team; demonstrated commitment to the success of economically disadvantaged and/or marginalized people.
  3. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Must have good presentation skills. Conduct themselves professionally. Ability to work with the public and other employees in a professional manner. Strong computer skills (window-based work processing, spreadsheets, Internet usage, etc.).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Lift 5-10 pounds.
Work in an office environment will frequent standing and sitting.
Work Schedule
Full-time position this employee must work the hours necessary to fulfill the functions and roles of this position. This may require the employee to occasionally perform work during evenings and weekends.

The College has three modes of work, which are 1) on-site (100% physically at a College worksite), 2) hybrid (time split between remote and on-site), and 3) remote (100% remote with no on-site work). This position is currently operating in a hybrid work mode. On-site and remote days are determined by the needs of the department. All new hires must be able to work in a hybrid mode while the College is operating under a hybrid work plan and must be able to work on-site in a full-time capacity if/when the College transitions to a full-time on-site work model. This position may work in a hybrid, remote, or on-site model based on the needs of the College, and as assigned by the immediate supervisor. These modes are subject to change.
